The St. Joseph’s allopathic hospital started in 1939.The Muthi Ayurvedic hospital established in the year 2000 and Muthi Homoeo hospital started in 2012 at Kudavechoor near the historically famed Vaikom in Kottayam district, Kerala, India. Hospital is situated infront of St. Mary’s Church Kudavechoor, the famous Marian pilgrim centre. It is believed that the painting of the Holy Mother instituted in the main Altar of the church was miraculously painted. The faithful, with reverence and respect, calls the Holy Mother as Kudavechoor Muthi.

Another speciality of this place is that a special breed of cattle reared here later became world famous as Vechoor cow. The hospitals are managed by St. Joseph’s Charitable Medical Trust and the president of the trust is the parish priest of St. Mary’s church, Kudavechoor. The hospital was formed with a view of giving holistic treatment for the ailing mankind comprising body, mind and soul.
